Belgium: Ryanair pilots based at Brussels Charleroi Airport plan to strike Aug. 14-15

Ryanair pilots based at Brussels Charleroi Airport, Belgium, plan to strike Aug. 14-15. Flight disruptions likely. Reconfirm flights.

Informational

Event

Ryanair (FR) pilots based in Belgium will resume strike action Aug. 14-15. Unions representing the striking pilots are demanding the reversal of pay cuts implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and are protesting the unilateral reduction of rest days. The strike will affect Ryanair flights operating out of Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), though not all Ryanair flights departing CRL will have a Belgium-based pilot. The walkout will not affect Ryanair flights operating out of Brussels Airport (BRU), as Ryanair pilots from outside Belgium mainly serve this airport. This industrial action follows earlier strikes July 15-16 and July 29-30; further walkouts are possible in the coming weeks.

Flight disruptions are likely and could extend for several hours after the strike ends as the airline repositions aircraft and clears passenger backlogs.

Advice

Confirm flight status and reservations during the labor action period. Do not check out of accommodations or leave for the airport until onward travel is confirmed.
