Clashes between rival communities in Aru Territory, Ituri Province, left at least seven people dead Aug. 22. The clashes occurred between members of Nyatcha and Adovo communities and were sparked by the death of one of the community members after a land dispute.

Security forces have deployed to the area to quell the violence. Heightened security measures may prompt localized disruptions to transport and business. Further intercommunal violence cannot be ruled out in the area over the coming days.

Aru Territory is approximately 145 km (90 miles) northeast of Bunia.
