Germany: Activists to demonstrate in central Dusseldorf Aug. 26

Activists plan to demonstrate in Dusseldorf's Johannes-Rau-Platz and Apollowiese from 15:00-18:00 Aug. 26. The purpose of the protest is to call for an end to military support for Ukraine and commencement of negotiations to end the war. Bundestag and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe member Andrey Hunko will be the main speaker at the event. It is unclear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the demonstration. Although the event will probably remain peaceful, isolated skirmishes cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protest area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Dusseldorf the afternoon of Aug. 26. Strictly heed all instructions given by law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
