Authorities have imposed a curfew in parts of Rockfort, Kingston Parish, that is scheduled to remain in effect until at least 18:00 Aug. 6. Officials reportedly implemented the curfew at 18:00 Aug. 4 after gunfire killed three people and injured four others in the neighborhood in recent days. The area subject to the curfew measures is bounded by Glasspole Avenue from D’Aguilar Road to Water Road in the north, Water Road from a dirt track onto Deoch Road to Windward Road in the east, D’Aguilar Road from Windward Road to Glasspole Avenue in the west, and Windward Road from Deoch Road to D’Aguilar Road in the south.
During curfew hours, all persons within the abovementioned area must remain in their respective homes unless specially authorized to leave their residence by the police. Security forces, including both police and military personnel, are likely to deploy throughout the curfew area, setting up checkpoints and checking the identification of all individuals who are outside their homes. Localized transport and business disruptions will also almost certainly impact the area until the curfew measures are lifted.
