Informational

Event

Activists are planning to march in support of the LGBTQ community in Londonderry Aug. 26. The Foyle Pride Parade will begin at 14:00 from the Waterside railway station, cross the Craigavon bridge and proceed down Carlisle Road, The Diamond, and Shipquay Street before ending in Guildhall Square, where a festival is planned. Sections of Water Street will be closed to vehicular traffic 16:00 Aug. 26-02:00 Aug. 27. The event is likely to be well attended. Counter-protests are possible. A religious activist group was refused permission to hold a simultaneous protest in Guildhall Square due to disturbances at the 2022 Foyle Pride Parade.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route and in the vicinity of Guildhall Square during the demonstration. While the event will likely remain largely peaceful, low-level confrontations cannot be ruled out.
