Airport disruptions are ongoing at Stansted Airport (STN) after authorities evacuated the train station due to smoke alarms on the afternoon of Aug. 20. The incident prompted a power outage in the airport and the train station. Reports indicate that authorities did not find evidence of fire; however, a burnt switch was discovered in an electrical room. Officials have indicated that electricity has been restored and they are continuing to work to restore systems; knock-on disruptions are ongoing. No trains are currently running to or from STN. However, rail replacements are reportedly running between Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport.

There are no confirmed reports that flights at STN have been impacted, though disruptions to operations cannot be discounted.
