UK: Motorcyclists to hold convoy protest on M25 London Orbital motorway, Aug. 20

Motorcyclists plan to hold a convoy protest in London, Aug. 20. The primary meeting point for the start of the action is ACE Cafe, located on North Circular Road. Participants will gather there from 10:00, depart by 11:15, ride in convoy to join the M25 London Orbital motorway, ride south, and then leave the M25 at Junction 9 to join the A24 road. Participants will head to Rykas Cafe car park, located in Boxhill, Surrey, immediately southwest of London, for a rally at 12:30. Other gathering points for the rally are also confirmed at various motorway service areas and include:

• Heston Services (11:00)

• South Mimms (11:00)

• Thurrock Services (11:30)

The action is to denounce the London Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ), which will force motorcyclists to pay a daily fee based on their vehicle emissions.

Security forces will likely deploy to monitor the action and monitor traffic on the M25. Some localized ground travel delays are likely near the protest sites. Significant acts of violence are unlikely.
