Informational

Event

Gambia's water provider, National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), plans to temporarily disrupt water distribution in Banjul 10:00-15:00 on Sept. 30 to conduct maintenance work on the Serekunda-Banjul Clear water transmission line. NAWEC recommends that residents stock up on water supplies before the planned time of the maintenance work.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
