Unionized workers to hold protest march in central Belgrade, Serbia, from 11:30 Sept. 26. Heightened security, transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Members of four educational unions plan to hold a protest march in central Belgrade from 11:30 Sept. 26 to denounce an alleged lack of state and societal support for educators. Participants will gather at the National Assembly before marching to the Government of Serbia building via Knez Milosa and Nemanjina streets for a rally. Organizers estimate the demonstration will conclude around 14:00. It is unclear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid the protest as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the march route. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of a security disturbance.
