Increased security is likely in Ulundi, northern KwaZulu-Natal, ahead of the funeral of Zulu prince and politician Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Sept. 16. The commemorations will be held at the Buthelezi Regional Stadium from 09:00. Buthelezi served as the traditional prime minister to the Zulu royal family until his death, and was the founder of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). President Ramaphosa will attend and has announced that Buthelezi would receive a special official funeral.

Increased security is likely in Ulundi on Sept. 16 due to the presence of high-ranking government officials and members of the Zulu royal family, and could result in temporary road closures around Ulundi. Disruptions to air travel at King Shaka International Airport (DUR) and Ulundi Airport (ULD) are also possible. Protests in support of or against the President or the Zulu King may occur; security personnel will likely seek to contain or disperse any protests that materialize.
