Tens of thousands of climate activists are reportedly participating in the march, which comes ahead of the UN Climate Ambition Summit in New York Sept. 20. Participants gathered at the intersection of West 56th Street and Broadway from around 12:00 before beginning to march eastward toward 1st Avenue and East 51st Street at 13:00. The march is scheduled to end at around 16:30.

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence along the march route for the duration of the demonstration.
