Warning

Event

Lingering flight delays and cancellations are likely at airports in the Northeast Megalopolis region (Northeast Corridor), extending from Washington, DC, to the Boston, Massachusetts, area, due to severe weather Sept. 8. As of around 15:45, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had issued ground stops and ground delay programs for several airports in the region, including John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Newark Liberty International (EWR), LaGuardia (LGA), Teterboro (TEB), and Boston Logan International (BOS) airports.

The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the region, including Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI), Washington Dulles International (IAD), and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) airports, over the coming hours. The air traffic control measures could be extended or rescinded on short notice.

Advice

Contact your airline to confirm flight status if booked to travel via an airport in the Northeast Megalopolis region Sept. 8. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
