US: Authorities issue ground stop for Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, N.J., due to equipment outage Oct. 11

Ground stop in effect at Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, N.J., US, until at least 16:00 Oct. 11 due to equipment outage.

Warning

Flight disruptions will likely affect Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in Newark, New Jersey, over the short term after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for the facility on Oct. 11 due to an equipment outage. Flight departures to EWR are slated to be grounded until at least 16:00, and departures from EWR were delayed by an average of 30 minutes and increasing as of 14:50. The FAA may extend or rescind the ground stop or issue additional air traffic control measures for EWR on short notice.

Residual flight disruptions may persist even after the equipment outage is resolved as airlines work to clear any passenger backlogs that have materialized.

Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via EWR. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
