Authorities are responding to an allegedly terror-related shooting that left at least two dead and one injured at the Boulevard d'Ypres/Ieperlaan in Brussels on the evening of Oct. 16. Initial reports indicate that around 19:15, an unknown individual opened fire, killing two Swedish nationals; the victims were allegedly wearing Swedish football jerseys. The search for a suspect is ongoing as of the evening. A suspect reportedly claimed responsibility, claimed to have targeted Swedish nationals, and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror organization on social media.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the shooting site through the night. Additional attacks cannot be ruled out.
