Event

A magnitude-5.2 earthquake occurred in San Jose Province at 05:45 Oct. 21. The epicenter was about 19 km (12 miles) north-northeast of San Isidro. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and moderate-to-light shaking was probably felt throughout much of Costa Rica, western Panama, and southern Nicaragua. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake, and significant damage is unlikely.
