Karpowership restored power to Bissau and surrounding areas late Oct. 18 after the government reportedly paid part of an outstanding debt. The energy provider suspended the electricity supply on Oct. 17 due to a "protracted period of non-payment." Both sides agreed to renegotiate the current contract to avoid future payment or supply issues.
