Transport workers to protest, block roads in Mexico City, Mexico, Oct. 3. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Transport workers in Mexico City are planning blockades on Oct. 3 to demand the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Mobility. Protesters plan to gather from 09:00 at the junctions of Calzada de las Bombas and Avenida Cafetales, Avenida Tlalpan and General Anaya, Avenida Tlahuac and Anillo Periferico Canal de Garay, Ermita Iztalapalapa and Anillo Periferico Canal de Garay, and Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza y Anillo Periferico C.7. Demonstrators will also block routes connecting Mexico City to Puebla and Cuernavaca.

Transit disruptions, as well as disruptions to businesses dependent on freight trucking, are likely. Heightened security is likely near blockades. Protests are also possible in central areas of the city, especially outside government buildings. Violence cannot be discounted should security personnel attempt to remove the blockades.

Advice

Plan for transit and business disruptions; consider alternative routes. Avoid demonstrations. Do not attempt to circumvent blockades; wait for police to dismantle them. Strictly heed the directives of authorities.
