Poland: Authorities to conduct WWII bomb disposal operation in Bay of Gdansk near Gydania Oct. 17, possibly also Oct. 18

WWII ordnance disposal to occur in Bay of Puck, Gdansk, Poland, Oct. 17 and Oct. 18 if needed. Maritime disruptions likely.

Authorities will conduct an operation to dispose of unexploded WWII ordnances in the Bay of Gdansk and the Bay of Puck near Gydania from 08:00-17:00 Oct. Oct. 17; an additional day for disposal operations will occur from 08:00-17:00 Oct. 18 if needed. A mandatory evacuation zone, including the coastline area from English Wharf to Kosciuszko Square in Gydania, will be in place during operation hours. Entering the water at all beaches from Mechelinki to Westerplatte is forbidden during the operation. Restrictions to commercial maritime travel have not been announced; however, any navigational constraints will be communicated through navigation warnings.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the evacuation area. Maritime travel restrictions are possible throughout the Bay of Gdansk during the operation.

Strictly heed all instructions from authorities. Reconfirm maritime shipping and travel via Gdynia and Gdansk scheduled for the operation time frame. Allow additional time if traveling near the Gdynia evacuation area.
