Poland, Ukraine: Polish truck drivers blocking entry of Ukrainian trucks at border, as of mid-November

Protesting Polish truck drivers staging roadblock protest at border with Ukraine preventing movement of freight, as of mid-November.

Warning

Polish truck drivers are reportedly protesting by blocking Ukrainian trucks from crossing border posts on the Poland-Ukraine border as of mid-November. Reports suggest that the action started Nov. 6, affecting three border posts at the Korczowa-Krakowiec, Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska, and Dorohusk-Yahodyn crossings. Reports also suggest that light vehicles and humanitarian and military shipments are not being impeded. Polish truck drivers are demanding authorities re-impose quotas on Ukrainian freight transport that were lifted at the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Authorities have been unable to negotiate a reopening of the border; it is unclear when ordinary transport will be able to resume.

Increased security is likely near the protest locations. The blockages will likely result in transport disruptions on nearby roads, and increase congestion on alternative routes. Alternative means of transport and border crossings could experience increased demand and traffic. Temporary goods shortages are possible. While the action has remained peaceful, localized scuffles are possible.

Anticipate severe delays to freight transiting the Poland-Ukraine border for the duration of the protest action. Confirm crossing status before routing shipments over the border. Allow additional travel time in the vicinity of the shared border. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Do not attempt to pass through any roadblocks.
