Turkiye: Activist convoys from various cities to converge at Adana for pro-Palestinian rally at Incirlik Air Base on Nov. 5

Activists from several cities in Turkiye to convoy to Adana for protest at Incirlik Air Base on Nov. 5. Increased security likely.

Warning

Activists affiliated with several organizations, including the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH), plan to state a protest convoy from several Turkish cities to Incirlik Air Base in Adana Nov. 3-5. The purpose of the event is to denounce US support for Israel and express solidarity with the Palestinian people. The base is home to both Turkish and US military personnel, as well as some US Defense Department civilians and contractors.

Convoys will assemble in at least the following four locations starting as early as Nov. 3 before converging at Incirlik where a rally will take place starting at 14:00 Nov. 5:

  • Istanbul: Depart from the car park at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium at 10:00 Nov. 3 and travel to Adana via Kocaeli (Izmit), Ankara, and Konya;

  • Kahramanmaras: Depart from the Expo 2023 Fairgrounds at 09:30 Nov. 5, traveling directly to Adana/Incirlik;

  • Kayseri: Depart from the Fairgrounds entrance gate at 08:00 Nov. 5, traveling directly to Adana/Incirlik;

  • Van: Depart from the Yukari Norsin Mosque at 12:30 Nov. 4, traveling to Adana via Sanliurfa.

Organizers are calling for participants to "surround" the base on arrival. It is unclear how long the demonstration may last or how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely along routes used by the convoys and near Incirlik Air Base on the rally date. Clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Exercise caution along possible convoy travel routes to Adana. Avoid the vicinity of Incirlik Air Base as a precaution on Nov. 5. Allow additional time to reach destinations near protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions of authorities. Leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
