Womens' activists plan to protest across Turkiye Nov. 24-26. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Women's rights and LGBTQ activists plan to protest across Turkiye Nov. 24-26 to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Demonstrations are planned in major cities nationwide, including:

  • Ankara: Protest at Ankara Courthouse Commercial, Family, Juvenile and Consumer Courts Annex Building from 11:00 Nov. 24.

  • Ankara: Protest at College Square from 16:00 Nov. 25.

  • Antalya: Protest at Aydin Kanza Park from 14:00 Nov. 25.

  • Bursa: Protest at Fomara Square from 17:00 Nov. 25.

  • Istanbul: Protest at Mecidiyekoy Square from 14:00 Nov. 25.

  • Istanbul: Rally at Sureyya Opera before marching to Kadikoy Pier Square from 14:00 Nov. 26.

  • Izmir: Protest in front of Alsancak Railway Station from 17:00 Nov. 25.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that take shape. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration areas. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
