DRC: Political activists to stage rally in Kinshasa Dec. 16
Political activists to rally at the Sainte Therese Field in Kinshasa's N'djili neighborhood, DRC, starting at 11:00 Dec. 16.
Political activists associated with Engagement for Citizenship and Development (ECiDe, Engagement Pour La Citoyennete et Le Developpement) plan to rally at the Sainte Therese Field in Kinshasa's N'Djili neighborhood starting at 11:00 Dec. 16. The purpose of the gathering is to demonstrate support for presidential candidate Martin Fayulu in anticipation of the upcoming Dec. 20 general election. The event could draw large numbers of Fayulu supporters.
Authorities will almost certainly deploy increased security near Sainte Therese Field during the rally. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely near the impacted area. Clashes between activists and security forces cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
Sainte Therese Field is located approximately 6.5 km (4 mi) from N'Djili International Airport (FIH) and 1.6 km (1 mi) from National Route 1.
