Rajput outfits have called for statewide protests and a one-day shutdown strike in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan states Dec. 7. Organizers are denouncing the fatal shooting of a Rajput community leader, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, Dec. 5. Related protests and work stoppages occurred in Ajmer, Jaipur, Rajsamand, and Udaipur cities in Rajasthan; and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh Dec. 6. Low to moderate participation from businesses was reported, while some private offices and educational workplaces declared a holiday as a precaution. Limited transport service and local business disruptions are possible.

Additional demonstrations, such as shutdown strikes affecting local markets, road blockades, and sit-ins outside government buildings, are likely in the coming days, mainly in Bhopal, Jaipur, and other urban centers. Popular protest venues include public squares, major intersections, and monuments. A few hundred people could participate in each demonstration.

Authorities will likely monitor the protests. Minor scuffles between protesters and police are possible, especially if the former are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse. Protesters may march along or block roadways, causing localized transport disruptions. Associated business disruptions are also possible.
