Firefighters are responding to a structure fire on Crucero Street, Vina del Mar, Valparaiso region, on Jan. 1. Preliminary reports indicate the fire has spread to the neighboring Provimarket supermarket on Arlegui Street, causing significant damage to that structure. As of yet, there have been no reports of casualties. Authorities have evacuated the nearby bus terminal out of an abundance of caution.

Increased security, transport, and business disruptions in the area are likely in the coming hours, even after authorities extinguish the blaze as officials investigate the cause. Additional evacuations cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the incident site until authorities extinguish the blaze and give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the affected area and any disruptions.
