Russian internet services reportedly disrupted, and sites with .ru reportedly down as of the evening of Jan. 30 due to unknown issue.

Warning

Internet services within Russia and access to websites on the Russian domain .ru are reportedly disrupted as of the evening of Jan. 30 following a major outage. What caused the outage was not immediately known. The outage primarily impacts residents in several regions, including Sverdlovsk, Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, and Tyumen. Users reported a widespread breakdown in mobile applications and an inability to access the internet. Mobile operator MegaFon has reported a drop in mobile volume. However, other mobile services in Russia have yet to communicate on the outage.

The outage may cause disruptions to transport, medical, commercial, and administrative services, especially if operations rely heavily on internet access.

Plan for possible communication and business disruptions if operating in the impacted areas. Consider alternative modes of communication, such as other service providers and satellite connections, for critical business operations. Confirm the working status of security systems; account for possible transport and service delays.
