A magnitude-5.1 offshore earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea off Izmir Province at around 08:19 Jan. 27. The epicenter was about 17 km (10 miles) from Kusadasi, Aydin Province. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 12 km (7 miles), and weak-to-light shaking was probably felt throughout western Turkiye and across the Aegean Islands.
