Belgium: Brussels Airlines cabin staff to strike Feb. 28-March 1
Unionized Brussels Airlines cabin crew members plan to strike in Belgium Feb. 28-March 1. Air travel disruptions likely.
Unionized cabin crews employed by Brussels Airlines (SN) and affiliated with the CNE and ACV Puls labor unions plan to strike from Feb. 28-March 1. The unions are demanding increased salaries and improved overall working conditions. The strike will mostly affect flights at Brussels Airport (BRU); however, Brussels Airlines services at other airports may be affected by knock-on disruptions.
Passenger processing delays and resultant flight disruptions are highly likely across the Brussels Airlines network; residual disruptions will probably extend for several hours after the strike ends as the carrier works to clear its flight backlog. Striking workers could picket outside airports or near Brussels Airlines offices; heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any such demonstrations that may take place.
Reconfirm travel arrangements if booked to fly with Brussels Airlines Feb. 28-March 1. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow extra time to clear check-in and security for Brussels Airlines flights during the strike. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution.
