Dominican Republic: Retired police and military veterans march in downtown Santo Domingo Feb. 13

Retired military and police personnel are marching to the Palace of the Dominican National Police in Santo Domingo on Feb. 13. Participants are demanding the payment of their pensions and compensation. Demonstrators initially gathered on Avenida 27 de Febrero. There have reportedly been scuffles between the police and the protesters, with authorities using what appears to be tear gas.

Transport disruptions have been reported in the area. Clashes between security forces and protesters could escalate.
