DRC: Protest in Kinshasa, Feb. 10

A disruptive protest is ongoing along Boulevard de 30 Juin near the Building ex-Sozacom and Commission Electorale Nationale Independante (CENI) offices in Kinshasa, Deb. 10. Demonstrators have reportedly burnt tires in the area. They are demanding the departure of US government interests in the country.

Heightened security is likely in the area in the coming hours. Disruptions to road travel are likely. Access to nearby buildings may be restricted. Clashes between demonstrators and the police are possible. Protesters could also engage in acts of public violence. Demonstrators could relocate protests to nearby foreign embassies, including the US Embassy located nearby at 310 Avenue des Aviateurs.
