Poland: Farmers to conduct protest march in Warsaw Feb. 27
Farmers to stage protest march in central Warsaw, Poland, from 11:00 Feb. 27; heightened security, transport disruptions likely.
Farmers' groups plan to hold a protest march in central Warsaw from 11:00 Feb. 27. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand limitations on Ukrainian agricultural products entering Poland, among other demands. Participants will gather at the Palace of Culture and Science before marching to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The following public transport disruptions may occur:
Bus detours/disruptions: 107, 108, 111, 116, 117, 118, 127, 128, 131, 158, 159, 160, 166, 171, 175, 180, 200, 222, 501, 503, 504, 507, 517, 518, 519, 520, 521, 522, 525, and E-2 lines.
Tram detours/disruptions: 4, 7, 9, 15, 18, 22, 24, 25, and 35 lines.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the entire march route. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the march as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Warsaw. Be prepared for bus and tram disruptions on the abovementioned lines. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
The demonstration comes as farmers continue to protest at border crossings with Ukraine. Farmers' protests have been taking place across the EU since December, with participants denouncing EU policy mandating the unrestricted entry of Ukrainian agricultural products into the EU.
