US: Landslide prompts suspension of Amtrak rail service between Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, into at least early Feb. 18

Amtrak rail serviced between Seattle, Wash., and Portland, Ore., US, suspended until at least early Feb. 18 due to landslide on tracks.

Warning

US railway company Amtrak has suspended service on its Cascades and Coast Starlight lines between Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, due to a landslide near Felida, Washington. Company officials expect operations along the affected route to resume early Feb. 18; in the meanwhile, Amtrak is providing alternate transportation between the two cities.

The rail disruptions will likely lead to higher demand for alternative means of transport, as well as longer ground travel times between Seattle and Portland. Lingering rail disruptions will likely continue for several hours after service resumes as the carrier repositions rolling stock and works through its passenger backlogs.

Consider using alternative transport for time-sensitive travel. Allow extra time to reach destinations between Seattle and Portland through at least Feb. 18.
