As of the afternoon of Feb. 24, lingering rail disruptions are likely on the Union Pacific Northwest Line between Crystal Lake and Harvard Stations after a Metra train derailed near the Route 176 overpass in Crystal Lake earlier in the day. No injuries were reported due to the incident. Metra officials stated two tracks are blocked, and train departure diversions are occurring, with trains heading to Woodstock and Harvard Stations being terminated at Crystal Lake Station. Officials have provided no estimate of when services will be restored and asked commuters to seek alternative modes of transportation.
