Belgium: Brussels Airlines pilots strike reinstated, now planned March 27-30 /update 2

Unionized Brussels Airlines pilots reinstate strike in Belgium, now planned March 27-30. Flight cancellations, travel delays likely.

Warning

Unionized cabin crew employed by Brussels Airlines (SN) and affiliated with the CNE and ACV Puls labor unions plan to strike March 27-30. Industrial action was called off on March 20, pending the outcome of negotiations. However, late on March 20, the strike was reinstated. The unionized staff are demanding increased salaries and improved overall working conditions. The action will likely prompt significant flight cancellations.

Passenger processing delays and flight disruptions are highly likely across the Brussels Airlines network; residual disruptions will probably extend for several hours after the strike ends as the carrier works to clear its flight backlog. Striking workers could picket outside the airports or near Brussels Airlines offices; heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any such demonstrations that may take place.

Reconfirm travel arrangements if booked to fly with Brussels Airlines March 27-30. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow extra time to clear check-in and security for flights during the strike period. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution.
