A mandatory evacuation zone extending 550 meters (1,804 feet) from the site and a safety zone extending 1,320 meters (4,331 feet) are in place. Authorities have prohibited all road, sea, and air traffic inside the safety zone. The duration of the operation is unclear.

Mali Losinj is approximately 129 km (80 miles) southwest of Rijeka.
