DRC: Water supply disruptions in Bukavu in early March

Water supply disruptions ongoing in Bukavu, DRC, in early March. Shortages reported since late February.

Informational

Water supply disruptions have impacted Bukavu since late February. A primary pipeline feeding water to the town has broken. The state utility Water Distribution Authority (Regie de Distribution d'Eau, REGIDESO) has not provided a resolution timeframe.

Commercial disruptions are possible during the maintenance period, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for operations. Demonstrations in response to the shortage are possible. Likely gathering areas are state facilities in Bukavu.

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Avoid all protests.
