Anti-racism demonstrations are planned in Austria, Belgium, France, and The Netherlands through March 24.

Informational

As of March 19, anti-racism groups plan to demonstrate in cities in Austria, Belgium, France, and The Netherlands, through March 24. Events will mark the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21. Most events, including workshops and rallies, are likely to be small-scale events. The largest events are likely to be those listed below.

  • Austria: On March 23, attendees will gather in Vienna at Human Rights Square from 14:00 before marching to Ballhausplatz at 15:30

  • Belgium: Participants will gather at Albertine Square in Brussels from 12:00 March 24

  • France: On March 23, participants will gather at Place de la Bastille in Paris from 14:00 and in Rennes, at Place de la Republique, from 15:00

  • The Netherlands: Attendees will gather in Dam Square in Amsterdam from 13:00 March 24.

Local authorities will likely deploy an increased security presence to demonstration sites. Protest activity and any heightened security measures that authorities impose will likely cause localized transport disruptions, including at public transport hubs. Counter-protests are possible.

Allow extra time for travel near major demonstration sites. If violence breaks out, immediately leave the area and seek shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Adhere to all instructions issued by local officials.
