Fiji: Water pipe damage causing supply disruptions in Lami, Suva, and Togalevu as of April 11

Municipal water outages affecting Lami, Suva, and Togalevu in Fiji, as of April 11. Minimize nonessential water use.

Informational

Water supply disruptions are affecting parts of Lami, Suva, and Togevalu as of April 11 due to pipeline damage along Princes Road in Tamavua. The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has suspended water supply to Delainavesi, Lami, Marine Drive, Mead Road, Queens Road, Rewa Street, Samabula, Tip Top, Waimanu Road, and Walu Bay areas to facilitate repairs; over 30 schools and at least three hospitals are affected. WAF has advised customers in the affected areas to conserve water and call water trucks if necessary. Officials have not indicated when regular water services will resume; repair works may take several days.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Contact WAF to request water trucks. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes before use. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
