Emergency crews are responding to a major fire in a nightclub in the Gayrettepe neighborhood of Istanbul's Besiktas District on the afternoon of April 2. The blaze started in a nightclub occupying the first floor of a 16-storey building on Yildiz Posta Caddesi. According to preliminary reports, at least seven people have died, and nine have been injured in the incident.
A significant security presence has been deployed to the scene. Localized business and transport disruptions are likely in the area until firefighters have fully extinguished the fire.
