Croatia: Activists to demonstrate in central Zagreb, May 18
Activists to march from Croatian National Theatre to Zrinjevac Park in central Zagreb, Croatia, from 10:30 May 18. Disruptions likely.
Activists associated with 'Walk for Life' will demonstrate in Zagreb from 10:30 May 18. The gathering has been called to protest abortion. Activists will gather at the Croatian National Theatre before marching along Frankopanska and Ilica streets via Trga bana Josipa Jelacica and ending at Zrinjevac Park. Organizers expect a few thousand people to attend.
Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor the action. The demonstration will likely result in localized road travel delays along and near the protest route. Disruptions to public transport are also likely as protesters arrive and later disperse. Officials could also close road routes to facilitate the march. Violence is unlikely.
Organizers of the event have indicated that it is one of several planned in 15 locations nationwide in the coming months. Additional protests are scheduled in Imotski, Knin, Metkovic, Opuzen, Osijek, Ploce, Rijeka, Sinj, Sisak, Slavonski Brod, Split, Varazdin, Vinkovci, and Zadar through September.
Avoid the demonstration as a standard precaution and to mitigate travel delays. Heed the instructions of officials.
