Hungary: Activists to hold protest march in central Budapest May 25
Activists to march from Russian Embassy to Chinese Embassy in Budapest, Hungary, from 18:00 May 25. Heightened security likely.
Activists affiliated with the Momentum political party plan to hold a protest march in central Budapest on May 25. The demonstration will denounce alleged activity by Russian hackers targeting Hungarians and the alleged planned deployment of Chinese police resources in Hungary. Participants will protest at the Russian Embassy on Bajca Utca at 18:00 before marching to and demonstrating at the Chinese Embassy on Benczur Utca. It is unclear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near and between the protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
