Officials suspended flight operations at Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) in Dakar May 9 after a Transair (R9) flight HC301 to Bamako, Mali, chartered by Air Senegal (HC) skidded off the runway around 01:15. The aircraft was reportedly damaged, and at least 11 people suffered injuries, including four seriously. Initial reports indicate the aircraft exited the runway as it was taking off. Officials did not immediately confirm when normal operations would resume.
Flight disruptions and cancelations are likely through at least May 9. Residual flight disruptions are possible over the coming days.
