Belarus: Long-delays reported at borders with adjacent EU countries as of June 6
Long-delays reported at Belarus borders with adjacent EU countries, likely through early June. Transport disruptions likely.
As of June 6, long delays are ongoing at Belarus's borders with adjacent EU countries. Officials in Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland have closed a number of border crossings and are implementing increased security checks at the remaining customs points. Local authorities in Belarus report significant delays at the borders, including around 600 freight vehicles at the Latvian border, 1,500 at the Lithuanian border, and 500 waiting to enter Poland.
Five out of a maximum of 14 checkpoints remain open, as of June 6. These are:
Belarus - Latvia: Grigorovshchina (Latvian name Paternieki)
Belarus - Lithuania: Kamenny Log (Lithuanian name Medininkai) and Benyakoni (Salcininkai)
Belarus - Poland: Kozlovichi (Polish name Kukuryki) and Brest (Terespol).
Authorities have not indicated how long the border restrictions will remain in place. In the coming days, cross-border traffic will likely remain delayed and disrupted, and freight traffic disruptions are likely to impact logistic deliveries.
Reconfirm all ground travel and freght shipping between Belarus and neighboring EU countries. Allow additional time to clear checks at Belarus land borders.
