Cambodia: Planned power outages to affect parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province through June 9
Power outages to occur in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, Cambodia, through June 9 due to repair works.
Due to maintenance work, planned power outages will occur in parts of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province through June 9. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) has announced that electricity disruptions will occur on the following days:
June 6: In parts of Chamkar Mon, Prek Pnov, Sen Sok, Toul Kork districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
June 7: In parts of Chbar Ampov and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, and in parts of Kien Svay and Leuk Dek districts of Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chbar Ampov, Meanchey, Prek Pnov districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
June 8: In parts of Prek Pnov and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Chbar Ampov and Russey Keo districts of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
June 9: In parts of Chaom Chau Commune, Meanchey and Por Sen Chey districts, of Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00; in parts of Kantaok Commune and Kambol District of Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00
Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
