Power outages to occur in Fiji from 06:00-18:00 on June 23 due to maintenance work. Reconfirm electrical supply.

Utility provider The Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) announced planned power outages will occur in parts of Fiji from 06:00-18:00 on June 23 due to maintenance work. Some of the locations to be affected by the electricity disruptions are:

  • Nadi City: Including Queens and Vuniyasi Roads.

  • Sigatoka: Including the Shangri-La Fijian Hotel, Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa, and the Outrigger, Warwick, Naviti and Tanakula Resorts.

  • Korolevu Town

  • Marco

  • Natadola

Additional locations are likely to be affected; the full list can be found here. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
