Authorities arrest armed individual in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, France, June 16; lingering increased security and residual disruptions possible.

Warning

Lingering heightened security measures may affect parts of Bonneuil-sur-Marne after authorities arrested an armed individual at an Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) celebration at the municipality's Complexe Sportif Aime-et-Eugenie-Cotton June 16. Officials have asserted that the arrest came after the armed individual attacked an elderly person and stole that person's purchased goods on a local street while "brandishing a handgun." The assailant then reportedly fled toward the abovementioned sports complex, where people who had gathered for the Eid al-Adha celebration disarmed him. No shots were fired, and two people were slightly injured before police arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. Authorities did not immediately confirm the suspect's motive. Officials will probably provide updates over the coming hours.

Residual transport disruptions cannot be ruled out in areas that are subject to increased security.

Avoid the vicinity of the Complexe Sportif Aime-et-Eugenie-Cotton until authorities conclude their work at the site and vacate the scene. Consider taking alternative routes to circumvent the affected area and any residual disruptions. Adhere to all instructions issued by local officials.
