Germany: Activists to demonstrate in Nuremberg June 23

Activists to protest at Scheurlstrasse and Willy-Brandt-Platz in Nuremberg, Germany, from 12:00 June 23. Heightened security likely.

Informational

Activists plan to protest in central Nuremberg from 12:00 June 23. The purpose of the demonstration is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of a bombing attack believed to have been carried out by the Nationalist Socialist Underground (NSU) group and to denounce authorities' alleged failure to adequately investigate the NSU. Participants will gather at Scheurlstrasse at 12:00 for a commemoration before moving to Willy-Brandt-Platz to protest from 13:30. It is not immediately clear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the affected area. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
