Informational

Republican civil society groups to protest and march in central Madrid from 12:00 June 16. Over 100 separate political and other associations will mark the 10th anniversary of the reign of King Filipe VI, by calling for a republic. Groups will gather in three separate meeting points: Plaza de Colon, Puerta de Alcala, and Plaza de Neptune. These rallies will then march towards Fuente de Cibeles and from there to Puerta del Sol. Organizers predict that at least several thousand attendees will participate.

Increased security will likely be deployed to monitor the event; road travel and transport disruptions are likely near the protest march route. Violence is not expected.

Avoid all protests as a routine security precaution. Allow additional time for travel through central Madrid on June 16. Heed instructions from authorities. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
