Spain: Education sector workers to protest and march in central Madrid, 11:30 June 15

Unionized public education sector workers plan to stage protest march in central Madrid from 11:30 June 15; increased security likely.

Informational

Unionized public education sector workers led by labor unions CCOO, ANPE, CSIF, and UGT will stage a protest march through central Madrid on June 15. Participants will gather from 11:30 at Neptune Square, and will march towards Puerta del Sol. The demonstration aims to demand improved working conditions and better public school planning for students. Several hundred to the low thousands will likely participate, based on previous events.

Increased security will likely be deployed to monitor the event; road travel and transport disruptions are likely near the protest march route. Violence is not expected.

Avoid all protests as a routine security precaution. Allow additional time for travel through central Madrid on June 15. Heed instructions from authorities. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
