Spain: Railway technical personnel to stage protests at main stations in major cities and 24-hour strike nationwide, June 14
Unionized railway technical personnel to protest at main stations in major urban centers and stage 24-hour strike across Spain, June 14.
Spanish state-owned railway company Renfe Group's unionized workers in the mechanical and technical sectors will stage a 24-hour strike nationwide on June 14, demanding improved working conditions and investment in better equipment. The industrial action result from failed negotiations with the Spanish Ministry of Transport and the management of Renfe Group. Pickets of striking laborers will occur from 10:00 at the main stations of major cities, including:
Barcelona: Sants Station
Madrid: Atocha Station
Malaga: Los Prados Station
Sevilla: Santa Justa Station
Railway disruptions are possible through early June 15. However, the minimal service guarantee of Spain's Ministry of Transport will likely mitigate some rail disruptions. Lingering rail disruptions are possible after the strike concludes, as services return to normal.
Reconfirm rail service in Spain through early June 15. Plan for increased demand on alternative available transport. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
