Lingering flight disruptions possible at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, through early July due to roof collapse.

Informational

Lingering flight disruptions are possible at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) through early July following a roof collapse in Terminal 1's departures area. As of July 1, Terminal 1 remains closed amid clean-up operations and investigations into the incident. Authorities have suspended flight operations at Terminal 1 and diverted services to Terminal 2 and 3; flight suspension at Terminal 1 will remain in effect until further notice. IndiGo (6E) and SpiceJet (SG), airlines operating domestic flights from Terminal 1, experienced cancellations affecting more than 22,000 passengers following the incident. The collapse, which was caused by heavy rains on the morning of June 28, killed one person and injured eight others.

Increased security and localized ground transport disruptions will likely continue at Terminal 1 and the surrounding area. Residual flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, are possible over the coming days for flights originally scheduled at Terminal 1.

Confirm flights if originally scheduled at DEL's Terminal 1; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Plan for localized transport disruptions and allow additional time if traveling to DEL. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
